Design and manufacturing of three-phase transformers and three-phase autotransformers

Three-phase transformers and three-phase autotransformers SVT They are designed and manufactured with low-loss materials and with various magnetic core architectures, depending on the customer's technical specifications. These include cores with interwoven laminations with 90° and 45° mitre joints, cores with planed joints, and air-gap solutions.

The energy of a three-phase system can be transformed by three suitably connected single-phase transformers, forming a three-phase bank, or by a single three-phase transformer with power equal to the sum of the powers of the three single-phase transformers.

Three-phase transformers can therefore be considered as three independent electrical windings, each relating to a phase. three-phase autotransformers, on the other hand, have a single winding and do not have galvanic separation between the two windings.

Different types of protection are available upon specific request, including just the output terminals. Special equipment for thermal protection, switching, and handling can also be provided.

Thorough and rigorous testing ensures a high level of safety and reliability for every single transformer produced, in compliance with current national and international regulations.

Main types of three-phase transformers and three-phase autotransformers

SVT manufactures:

  • Low-voltage power transformers and autotransformers
  • High-insulation galvanic isolation transformers
  • Transformers for three-, six- and twelve-pulse rectifiers with three- and five-limb cores
  • Inverter output transformers
  • Transformers and autotransformers with integrated series and/or parallel inductance
  • Three-phase to single-phase conversion transformers, including balanced systems
  • Three-phase to two-phase conversion transformers (Scott connection)
  • Autotransformers for starting three-phase asynchronous motors

SVT also manufactures three-phase inductors and reactors. Magnetic-core versions use grain-oriented laminations even at low power ratings, with a subdivided air gap to reduce noise and losses.

Careful pre-testing followed by final testing ensures precise, reliable inductive products for a range of industrial applications.

Designed and manufactured with quality products

SVT three-phase transformers and three-phase autotransformers are made with electrolytic conductors of copper wire and strip and aluminum, insulating materials with high dielectric and thermal properties (classes F and H), impregnation with paints or epoxy resins and robust mechanical support components suitable for different installation needs.

Upon request, they can be supplied complete with accessories, customized wiring and metal protective boxes with different degrees of protection.

Quality is verified during all production phases, from initial winding to final testing. Each transformer is 100% tested, certifying its electromagnetic performance and safety level.

Tests are carried out in compliance with the standards CEI EN 61558 – CEI 96.7 – CEI 96.8 – CE, according to the type of transformer and its use.

Careful control of production processes and the use of dedicated equipment ensure high reliability. Furthermore, SVT three-phase transformers and three-phase autotransformers are manufactured using automated machinery to ensure precision and repeatability of electrical parameters.

SVT designs and develops different types of three-phase transformers and three-phase autotransformers customized to meet specific application needs.

SVT electrical transformers are used in numerous sectors, including switchboards, home automation and industrial applications in which a variation in voltage is required with respect to the supply voltage.

FAQs

  • What is the difference between a three-phase transformer and a three-phase autotransformer?

The three-phase autotransformer uses a single winding and does not guarantee galvanic separation between input and output, unlike the traditional three-phase transformer.

  • Does SVT make custom three-phase transformers?

Yes, transformers are designed according to the customer's technical specifications, including special configurations of the magnetic core and protections.

  • What applications can SVT three-phase transformers be used for?

The products are used in switchgear, home automation and numerous industrial applications that require voltage transformation.

  • Are the transformers tested?

Yes, each transformer undergoes pre- and final testing in accordance with applicable regulations.

  • Can I request custom accessories and wiring?

Yes, three-phase transformers and three-phase autotransformers can be supplied with accessories, dedicated wiring and protective metal enclosures.
