Single-phase transformers

Design and manufacture of single-phase transformers and single-phase autotransformers

Available materials, protections and configurations

Single-phase transformers are electrical transformers that operate on alternating current and are used to transfer electrical power from one voltage level to another. Transformers consist of a magnetic core and at least two electrical windings.

Windings are classified according to the number of turns, the high voltage (HV) one having the highest number of turns

(with smaller cross-section) and the low voltage (LV) one with a smaller number of turns (with smaller cross-section). Single-phase autotransformers, unlike single-phase transformers, have a single winding and therefore do not have galvanic separation between the two windings.

Single-phase transformers and single-phase autotransformersSVTare designed and made with materials

top quality, electrolytic copper conductors in wire and strip and aluminum, insulators with high dielectric properties

and thermal (classes F and H), impregnation with paint or epoxy resins, extremely robust and safe mechanical support details suitable for any installation requirement.

Single-phase transformers and single-phase autotransformersSVTthey can be supplied complete with accessories

and customized wiring, based on the specific needs of the end customer.

On request, the metal machine protection box can be supplied with various degrees of protection.

Furthermore, a protective screen can be applied between the primary and secondary windings to ensure higher insulation; upon request, a thermal cut-out can also be applied to the primary winding.

Transformers for printed circuit boards

PCB transformers are electrical transformers that operate on alternating current and are used to transfer electrical power from one voltage level to another. Transformers consist of a magnetic core and at least two electrical windings.

The windings are classified according to the number of turns, the high voltage (HV) one with the highest number of turns (with a smaller cross-section) and the low voltage (LV) one with a smaller number of turns (with a smaller cross-section).

PCB transformers or printed circuit board transformers, whether painted or resin-coated, are used in all electrical and electronic boards where there is a need to vary the input voltage with respect to the output voltage, galvanically separating the circuit.

Painted transformers are coated with a special self-extinguishing paint to protect them both mechanically (from rust, vibrations, etc.) and electrically (the paint acts as an insulator, thus reinforcing the insulation of the transformer itself).

Resin-coated transformers are embedded in a container made of self-extinguishing epoxy resin. The resulting transformers have an IP66 protection rating, making them suitable for use in humid environments, or even in contact with water.

These containers used for resin-coated transformers can also have slots for fixing them to the board or electrical panel, or the transformers can be supplied with terminals or output cables, or alternatively with an input plug cable and a section of output cable.

FAQs

  • What is the difference between a single-phase transformer and a single-phase autotransformer?

The single-phase autotransformer uses a single winding and does not guarantee galvanic separation between input and output, unlike the traditional single-phase transformer.

  • Does SVT make custom single-phase transformers?

Yes, transformers can be developed and configured to meet the customer's specific application needs.

  • What are PCB Transformers?

These transformers are designed for integration into electrical and electronic boards where it is necessary to modify the voltage and ensure galvanic separation of the circuit.

  • Can resin transformers be used in humid environments?

Yes, thanks to the self-extinguishing epoxy resin and the IP66 protection rating, they can also be used in environments particularly exposed to humidity.

  • Are SVT transformers tested?

Yes, each transformer undergoes pre-testing and final testing in accordance with the applicable IEC regulations.
